Toba Khedoori (born in Australia) is an artist of Iraqi heritage, known primarily for highly detailed mixed-media paintings executed on large sheets of wax-coated paper.

Biography. Khedoori was born in Sydney of Jewish-Iraqi parentage and raised in Australia, and currently Alma mater: University of California, Los Angeles. This book documents the artistic development of Toba Khedoori, a MacArthur “Genius” Award recipient who skillfully combines precise draftsmanship with a meditative quality, and who manages to invite viewers inside her works, despite their two-dimensionality.

Toba Khedoori. Toba Khedoori’s works depict objects and everyday environments divorced from any background. Whether drawing and painting onto thin sheets of paper and stapling these directly onto the wall, or using canvas as physical support, her delicately shaded, often large-scale compositions are poised between ephemerality and monumentality.

Traveling to the Pérez Art Museum in Miami (April 21–Septem ) from the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (Septem –Ma ), Toba Khedoori was the artist's first museum survey exhibition in fifteen years.
